Khadi Denim Jacket

Before denim had a name, India had indigo. Centuries before Levi's, artisans in Gujarat and Rajasthan were dyeing the cloth that would eventually dress the world, and this jacket comes out of that same line.

Friend runs down the back in nine languages, stitched in red, because the word lands differently depending on who is reading it. That is the part people stop you about. Underneath it sits fourteen ounces of handloom khadi with rust contrast stitching, a henna print lining under the collar that nobody else has to know about, and a leather patch at the hem.

It is cropped through the body with a boxy shoulder, so take your true size to wear it open over a tee, or one up if it is going over a hoodie. Raw indigo comes rigid and fades at the cuffs and elbows first, which is less damage than it is a record of where you took it.
